After several rounds of blind tastings at the first ever Independent English Wine Awards our 2013 Blanc de Noirs, Alder Ridge's first vintage did it again! In 2016, this wine also beat some of the bigger French Champagne houses (such as Taittinger and Veuve Clicquot) in blind tastings at the International Wine Challenge where we were awarded a Silver and later in the year a very respectable Gold at the English & Welsh Wine Awards.
We’re incredibly proud that our first release has picked up its third award in just 18 months! English Wine is showing some exceptional promise and we feel very proud that our wine is ‘sparkling’ and being recognised within such a dynamic and fast-growing industry. We would like to thank the IEWA and others in the industry for the support and promotion they are giving the English Wine industry, particularly the other independent vineyards and wine producers like ourselves.
It is exciting news for our vineyard especially as we are just weeks away from releasing our second vintage wine. Our 2013 Classic Cuvée is a delicious blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes!
English wine has never been better placed than it is right now; it’s never been a more exciting time to be an English wine producer – or consumer! The attention we give our vines borders on the obsessive but what has been proven, is the ability to produce world class English Sparkling Wines. We couldn't be prouder of what we have achieved so far.
